[attr="class","angelomain"]Another day, another extraction trip into the depths of the Deep Sea. It didn't matter how many times he ventured through the cramped cavern tunnels, it still made Angelo's chest constrict tight.

Comfort had come from the pokémon that he could sense lingering in his shadow, as the small group had descended. He and the Marshadow become close after the mission at the Ancient Tomb had taken them to another Galar, where the memories drifted cloud-like in his mind and the bonds he'd forged not quite so fleeting.

Still, he keeps his expression relaxed. Angelo would probably do so even if he were alone.

When they finally reach the chamber where the organ lay, Angelo turns to his other companion. As he was saying. Another day, another partner he hadn't met before.

"Okay, so what would you prefer?" He asks, holding out his hands palm up to represent the choices he had for the brunette woman. "Wild hallucinations or muscle cramps from swinging a pickaxe? The choice is yours."

Such wonderful options.

To think that something so monumentous, so other worldly, and so down right unnatural was so common place now for some living in the Hoenn Region... It really put things into perspective... But not in the best way. She was assigned this mission, maybe her eagerness to get out there put her in this, maybe superiors saw something in her that made her viable, or maybe they didn't want to risk their best and sent those who could be more expendable... In any case, it was best not to think too hard on it, if her own sheer dumb luck was got her into this position, she still had to do what she could.[break]
She was making this venture with another league person she'd never met before, and he remained rather quiet on their way down into the depths, but that was only fair, what kind of conversation could you possibly have that was reasonable in such a dreary, toxic place such as the innards of some gargantuan interdimensional beast? It wasn't until they got into the cavern that they had to start working together and figuring out how to proceed forward, and he presented Yuina with the two options they had to start working things out.[break]
"My Sneasel and I can try to take on the toxins, poison can only go so deep on a poison type, but I know we still need to work as fast as we can," Yuina returned, looking down to the Sneasel she brought along with her, they would do what they could.

[attr="class","angelomain"]Yuina receives a nod in acceptance, her decision respected without argument nor instance of chivalry. “Just shout if you need to take a break or something, alright?”

As the mist creeps towards the woman and her sneasel’s ankles, wispy tendrils seeking host, Angelo gets to work on chipping away at the pillars of gem. Sounds of labour quickly filling the cavern.

And reaching to the inhabitants of the Ultra Deep Sea, also.

Bright, lifeless poipole eyes peek from the darkness as they come by to check on the source of activity. Their stingers glittering in the light of the starry fields, shining down through a gap in their mining nook.

Angelo was used to their appearance by now, scarcely pausing as, between each loud collision of his pickaxe, he calls out to his faithful companion. “Chester, keep them away from us.”

Skirting the shadows, the marshadow creeps away from the small group. Bursting out of the darkness beneath one such ultra beast to strike its belly with an ice punch.

He glances over towards Yuina to check how she was faring with the mist.

Trying to buck up and make herself worth something with as little experience as she had was perhaps not her best idea, but she made the decision and she was going to stand by it. The place was sickening, but she was trying to stay as close to Nyla as possible to keep from getting too entrapped within the toxins that reached out like twisting see through vines, but the small poison type could really only do so much. There was nothing 'right' that she could focus on, nothing that felt like she could even look at in order to keep her mind straight, the walls were a constant reminder that they were inside a giant, maybe alive, creature, like actually inside of it like they'd been swallowed alive. The thought was enough to make her shiver, tears pricked at the sides of her eyes, but she was told that this was a side effect, senses and emotions became heightened if you were exposed to this toxic environment for too long... Focus...[break]
"I'm okay... We're okay, we can handle it," she tried to say, though it were more for herself than it was for her partner... They had a job to do, she was assigned this job, she had to do what she could. She closed her eyes, the walls and thoughts of being swallowed alive to die in this chamber were too much, but inside the confines of her own thoughts weren't any better in this awful place... She saw flashes of broken images, like the remnants of an old spool of film that was just too damaged to work out... And she kept telling herself that because she didn't want to admit that she could barely make out someone that looked like herself? Surrounded by a darkness that could mean anything, but she wasn't afraid of it, it was like that figure of herself was welcoming it...[break]
The only thing that brought her out of this trance was the sounds of battle as her partner's Pokemon moved to attack something moving towards them, and Nyla too gave a sharp cry as she lunged forward with her claws bared, striking with a swift metal claw to keep the creature at bay, and away from Yuina.

[attr="class","angelomain"]Together the marshadow and sneasel lunge towards their malicious spectators. Ice cracks over the small ultra beasts in a flurry of blows, their chitters of menacing mirth replaced by alarmed screeches - disjointed from cold tremors.

Its almost like a group of small, troublemaking children whom had never faced the consequences of their actions before.

While the din of the fray continues on in the background, Angelo catches the brunette standing frozen still. Eyes closed, as if spellbound into a trance.

Angelo didn’t need to be able to feel her emotions to have an inkling that Yuina wasn’t as okay as she had tried to make out. Watching her breathing through the effects of the mist reminded him of claustrophobic thoughts of his own.

“Hey. Yuina, right?” For hands roughened by manual labour, Angelo’s touch upon her shoulder is surprisingly gentle. His voice following in kind. It would do neither of them any good if she buckled.

“How about you sit down? We’ve got to trek all the way back up to the rift after this.” He gestures towards a rock close by, low enough for her to sit. “Shouldn’t be much longer, then we can get the hell out of here.”

Its then that the pillars of tera crystals begin to illuminate. Their surfaces glowing with a rich purple lustre, as dark and invasive as poison seeping into the veins…

Coming out of the initial combat, Nyla sneered at looking around, hoping not to find any more lest they bear the sharp blow of her claws, and she padded back towards her trainer who wasn't looking too good... Neither of the humans really were looking too great, and she too felt like they needed to hurry and get out... They couldn't be in here much longer.[break]
Yuina was conscious, if only slightly, her eyes had opened at the sounds of battle and saw Nyla off in the near distance, but her eyes were glazed a bit, like she was watching something out of sight. She did hear her partner's voice, a gentle touch on her shoulder, and that shook her for a moment as she blinked, looking at him.[break]
"Uh, uhm, yeah, Yuina is right," she stammered for a moment, almost easing under his gentle gesture.[break]

A whisper, so faint, but prominent all the same caught Yuina's attention, she froze, she could swear that...[break]
Betrayer[break]
It sounded like her own voice... But... But why? She struggled, she could barely make out the words her partner spoke, but she did move to sit down, her gaze fixated on some far away point, she could swear there was a shadow moving towards them... It flickered like lights turning on and off, she could catch a glimpse of the same hair color as hers, a flash of light wine colored eyes... No, that wasn't right, but she panicked as it started moving towards her.[break]
"Nyla, Nyla Poison Jab," she called out, scrambling away from this thing moving towards her, pointing in a determined direction. The Sneasel caught a flash of something moving, whether it was what caused her trainer so much strife or not, she couldn't know... But the poison type lunged with glowing claws to strike at a faint shadow rushing around the chamber.

[attr="class","angelomain"]Thankfully, Yuina seems aware enough to pick up on his suggestion. Still, Angelo keeps a cautious eye out as she shuffles off to take a seat, her faraway gaze not escaping his notice.

Perceiving her silence as a sign that the young woman was clearheaded enough for him to go back to work, Angelo takes the pickaxe handle into his grip once more.

Not his smartest moment.

Strikes of metal upon the crystals unknowingly echo the threats Yuina hears whispering in her head. Sharp punctuations that accumulate into a sudden frantic scramble.

Angelo’s gaze snaps over as his partner cries out.

“Shit.” He hisses out, snapping his small pickaxe onto his person. Searching the cavern for what haunts her. “Chester!”

His loyal gloomdweller is already giving chase, diving back into the shadows like a falling ink drop, Chester lunges after the creature made of similar shade. When it catches up to Yuina’s demons, a spectral thief explodes out in a flurry of grim energy.

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.

This was... Too much... Yuina had no idea what was taking over her, but at this point it was like she was seeing double of everything from two different perspectives, trying to make sense of even the simplest things around her like Nyla coming back to her in a panic. She almost didn't recognize the pokemon, like she'd never seen her before... Between the toxins, the hostile environment, and who knew what else, Yuina just couldn't keep going, they'd tried their best but it was just too much...[break]
"You," she said, pointing to her Sneasel, but unable to even recall her name, just giving an order...[break]
"Grab what you can," she said in an off tone, but then she looked to her partner, blinking furiously trying to pull herself together.[break]
"We need to go, please, I-I don't know what's happening," she told him, she wanted to do her best on the mission, and hopefully they were able to grab enough to call it almost a success, but she started to move towards their exit in haste, she had to get out of there.
